I have always found yoga to be a home, an anchor and ground from where I can orient and it is a joy now to share this with others.
I first came to yoga at the age of 20 from the recommendation of my college counselor as a tool for mental health. This was 20 years ago. I then found Vinnie Yoga and worked one to one with my teacher Geoff Farrer for a number of years.
During these early years I was also studying a BA in Fine incorporating performance, installation, video and life processes. I also studied Permaculture design.
I have since trained in circus and physical theatre at Circomedia and independently in a variety of improvised and embodied dance and physical theatre forms, as well as Clown which is also very much part of my natural way, and I enjoy bringing this innocent stupid and playful aproach to my teaching.
I eventually trained as a Yoga teacher at Yogasara Bristol in Integral Yoga in 2018 with Christopher Gladwell and have been developing my teaching practice since this time.
Prior to teaching Yoga I taught chair based dance for older people as well as creative contemporary dance to over 55s. I have taught contact improvisation for my local CI community and led an improvised performance lab. I’m delighted now during lockdown to have started to teach my dad and step-mum chair based yoga on Zoom.
The transformational potential and opportunity for connection that the world of embodied theatre, improvisation and play bridged with Yogic disciplines holds, I think is a rich and meaningful place.
